Signed Donation Contract

At the general meeting of the BCG on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 4:00 p.m., it has been decided that the old documents of the Bernese Chemical Society should be donated to the State Archive of Canton Bern.

The Archive of the BCG in the State Archive of Canton Bern

On June 22, 2023, the old documents of the Bern Chemical Society were handed over to the State Archive of Canton Bern for cataloging.
Since July 1, 2024, the documents have been published as metadata in the online inventory of the State Archive starting with the reference number BB 05.10.3723, see link below. The original documents can be viewed on site in the reading room.

Anecdote from the Archive of the BCG

The letter from 1887, that was found in the archive of the BCG, is inviting for a talk of Prof. v. Nencki (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcel_Nencki).
It was signed by M. C. Traub, who later founded Hoffmann-LaRoche together with Fritz Hoffmann.

Die Unterzeichneten erlauben sich, Sie höflichst in Kenntnis zu setzen, dass sich unter Heutigem eine Anzahl Chemiker zu einem
"Chemischen Kränzchen" 
vereinigt haben mit dem Zwecke, durch Vorträge, Referate, Kritiken und dergleichen sich gegenseitig über die neuesten Fortschritte der Chemie und verwandter Disciplinen zu belehren. Ihr Beitritt wäre uns willkommen.

Nächste Versammlung: Donnerstag den 24. November a.c. Abends 8 Uhr. 
Versammlungsort: Zährigerhof, 1. Etage, im Salon.
